The best second-best tablet
Source: http://Arstechnica.com
The Good:
- Many features of webOS—Just Type, threaded messaging, Pivot—make the TouchPad awesome to use
- Card interface makes it easy to manage open applications
- Internal hardware allows for smooth operation
- App selection is sizeable, and Pivot may encourage developers to pursue a spotlight that isn’t based on sales numbers
- Stereo speakers provide great sound
The Bad:
- Form factor is heavy and chunky-feeling
- On-screen is a little small to comfortably type on
- No rear camera or photo/video-taking applications
- Phone-optimized webOS apps can’t be enlarged
- Lack of external video options hinder it in a supplementary role, an increasingly popular use for tablets
The Ugly:
- Flash video performance is crippling and unacceptable
- The way opening apps and cards integrate can quickly create a mess on the homescreen
Rumor Mill: HP’s Touchpad in June For $499
Ya you have heard it… or it may be a rumor…Says a HP source on this matter

If this rumor turns out to be true..then i feel personnaly that the tablet war will exactly start from june 2011..here’s why
- Web Os Rocks..(Color me a HP PR guy)
- Touch pad will emerge as a true Ipad contender as only HP controls Web Os and only Hp release Web Os tablets like Apple
- All android tablets are fighting itself for the top android tablet and with ipad(Means Fragmentation by the words of Steve Jobs)
- Hp’s Marketing strategy..this company sells 2 Pc’s and 2 printers every second…So we all know its capacity
- A $499 price point would be a killer as all android tablet makers are scratching their groin to reduce their price to $499
But What happens if this is just a rumor??
Time Will tell who will be the best Ipad killer(I mean it no body can kill ipad that easily unless Steve jobs does himself )
Update :
Look @ this one from arstechnica
See more on Touchpad here : Touchpad
And One more thing..Did you heard that Rim’s tablet…I hope steve jobs was correct as 7 inch tablets as DOA(Dead on Arrival). Its a proven fact that even samsung which released a 7 inch tablet is changin their strategy to a 8.9 inch tablet..
Final Point:-
2011 is the year of Ipad2 which wont face any competition from 780’s plus tablets other than touch pad
